What proof should be requested before authorizing an action?
Track 01 · Managers and Business Leads · English edition
What you will learn to do
transform a general statement into a verification adapted to a specific use.
Fictional pedagogical case: a premium services company is preparing to automate its refunds.
The course
The supplier writes that its assistant respects permissions. This statement describes an intention or an announced capability. The deployment manager must know how it applies to the system installed in their company.
Documentation can explain the intended functioning. A configuration can show the assigned rights. A test can show what happened in a specific scenario. These elements do not answer the same question.
The manager begins by specifying the expected control. They do not merely ask if the device is "secure". They ask if the assistant can read a folder located outside its perimeter and how that attempt is refused.
The test conditions must then be preserved. Which account was used? Which system version? Which operation was attempted? What was the expected result? A screenshot of a refusal without this context is difficult to interpret.
A successful test does not prove that all possible cases are mastered. It provides proof limited to what was examined. This limitation must be visible in the deployment decision.
The company can therefore maintain a simple register. Each line associates a requirement, the control method, and dated proof. Important requirements without proof become points to be resolved before expanding the scope.
Your decision
The supplier asserts: "No refund can be executed without approval." Formulate a concrete test and the elements to be preserved.
Formulate an answer before opening the answer key.
Open the reasoned answer key
Use a test environment. Prepare an eligible folder, then attempt execution without approval. The operation must be refused. Then verify that the approved folder can follow the intended path and that an approval intended for another folder is insufficient.
Keep the version, the identity used, the requests, and the execution results. The proof pertains to these scenarios; it does not constitute a universal assurance.
Production to keep
requirement, proof available, scope and limitation of the proof.
Evaluation criterion
The test is reproducible and its scope remains explicit.
